History of village

Vidovice
Origin of the name Vidovice: Fire and warning sign. The origin of the name of the village is firmly rooted in the traditions of the medieval inhabitants, who were known as "Vidovices". Their important duty was to light a warning fire on the peak called the White Stone in case of danger. This signal was visible as far as Prague and served as an invaluable warning of impending danger. This is probably where the name Vidovice comes from - from "vidový folk", guarding the safety of the wide surroundings.

Horni Lomnice

History of Dolni and Horni Lomnice in the Central Bohemia Region

The villages of Dolní and Horní Lomnice, located in the Central Bohemian Region, are picturesque settlements with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Both villages are now part of the municipality of Kunice in the Prague-East district and lie in the picturesque landscape of the Benešov Hills.

Horní Lomnice is located north of Dolní Lomnice and lies slightly higher in the terrain, which probably led to its name. Historically, Horní Lomnice was larger and more important than Dolní Lomnice. Like its neighbouring villages, Horní Lomnice was part of large aristocratic estates that played a key role in the development of the region.

Horní Lomnice has retained its rural character to the present day. A characteristic feature of the village is its traditional buildings, which, together with the surrounding countryside, create a picturesque image of the typical Central Bohemian countryside.

Dolní Lomnice
Dolní Lomnice, located southeast of Kunice, was historically a smaller settlement. According to old records, the village was part of the estates of aristocratic families in the past, among which the owners of various estates in the area alternated. In the 16th century, Dolní Lomnice fell under the administration of the Uhříněves estate, which was owned by the prominent family of the Lords of Liechtenstein.

In the second half of the 20th century, Dolní Lomnice was gradually transformed from a traditional agricultural village into a quiet residential and recreational place. Today it is known for its picturesque landscape and peaceful atmosphere.
